## Project Overview

designmd.app is an open-source reference library of DESIGN.md files — a Markdown format with YAML front matter that combines machine-readable design tokens with human-readable design rationale prose. The project was created to solve a fundamental problem in AI-assisted development: how to ensure visual consistency across UI generated by AI coding agents.

## Why This Project Exists

AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and Kiro can generate functional UI components, but without explicit design guidance, the output is visually inconsistent. Each prompt produces different colors, spacing, and typography. DESIGN.md solves this by providing a persistent design context that the agent reads before generating any code.

The format was introduced by Google Stitch in March 2026 and is maintained as an open standard at github.com/google-labs-code/design.md. designmd.app provides a practical library of ready-to-use files so developers don't have to start from scratch.

This project is maintained by ft.ia.br — a developer tools and AI agent skills company. The author also maintains skill.dev.br, a marketplace for AI agent skills (SKILL.md modules) compatible with Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Windsurf, and other AI coding tools.

## How to Contribute

- **Submit a DESIGN.md**: If you have a well-documented design system, submit it to the library for others to use.
